With 2009 ending, can you look back and feel like you took control of your personal health? We have some easy tips to help you be more proactive about your health. Everything from exercising more to simply getting things in order can help you feel better inside and out.
Take a Walk
The simple act of walking is one of the best exercises that you can do. Rather than letting the dog out the back door, take him on a quick walk – it will benefit him and you. Walking can help you lose weight and keep stress levels in check. And, because it’s low impact, it’s better for your joints than running.
Get Things in Order
If you’re getting an annual physical and exercising on a regular basis, you probably feel like you’re doing pretty well with your health. By centralizing your family records online, you can do even better. This information can help you see trends from year to year, and is also extremely useful if you need to travel. It’s also great to be able to put this information together quickly if a family member ever needs it. Few people have their immunizations, allergies, medications and emergency contacts in one, universally accessible place. Having this together is one of the best ways to take charge of your health.
Avoid Bad Habits
There are a lot of little habits you can change that make a big difference. For example, cut down on the sugar in your morning coffee, or try and skip dessert a couple of times a week. Also, if you don’t eat breakfast, start right away. It’s the best way to regulate your eating and you will think much better throughout the day.
Grab a Buddy
All of the tips above can be a lot more fun if you have someone spurring you on. Find a friend who can support your efforts as you take better charge of your health in 2010.
