The holiday season brings with it the merriment of gift-giving, family get-togethers, food and entertaining. One holiday element that does not add to the fun? Travel.
While your final destination can be a joy, the stress of getting from point A to point B during this busy time will always be hectic. Take heart, if you made it through Thanksgiving travels, this round should seem like a breeze! Here are several ways to lessen the stress of holiday travel.
1. Avoid Peak Travel Days
The best way to reduce travel stress is to avoid peak travel days. Not only will your airline fares be cheaper, but airports and roadways will be much less crowded.
2. Prepare Beforehand
In order to allow yourself plenty of time on your day of travel, be sure complete a travel planner prior to your departure date. If you are driving, fill up at the gas station and load your car with suitcases the night before you leave. Small tasks such as these tend to cause much more stress than they warrant when you’re rushing out the door. Another way to whittle down the to-do list is by having key travel information such as frequent flier numbers stored in your Orggit account. By using the Orggit iPhone application, your information travels with you--it's like an electronic travel wallet.
3. Consider the Trip Home
Before you embark on your travels, consider the return trip. Make sure you will have room to pack any gifts received, and if flying, remember that you may have to check a bag on the way home. Stocking stuffers such as lotion or perfume over 3 ounces will be confiscated if in a carry-on.
