It’s Cyber Monday! Millions of Americans will be browsing the internet today in order to take advantage of holiday discounts. While it can be convenient to skip the crowded malls and purchase gifts from home, the ease of online shopping becomes slightly more complex due to the fact that many online retailers require user accounts when checking out.
How are you supposed to remember the multiple usernames and passwords? As tempting as it is to use the same information for each website, this threatens the safety of your online accounts.
The most effective way to protect your accounts is to be proactive about your password. Refrain from using the same password for multiple accounts. We recommend that your password be at least 8 characters long, including at least one number and one special character.
Often, the safer your passwords are, the easier they are to forget. By storing your username and password information in Orggit’s Accounts & Codes section, you’ll never run into a forgotten password again!
1. After creating a new online account, enter the URL, username and password into the Accounts & Codes section. By including the URL, you can launch these websites directly from your Orggit account.
2. If you do not want a family member to see your account information for a certain site (perhaps it will clue them into a gift you’ve purchased for them), you can choose to keep this invisible to other users on your Orggit account, even if they have access to your profile. Simply check the box that says ‘Private,’ and the entry will only be visible to you.
