The first day of spring, March 20th, has come and gone. This means one thing: it’s time for spring cleaning! Let’s get your house out of hibernation – it’s time to tackle those tasks we hold off on until big cleaning events. The first step is to schedule a weekend to dedicate to this event, and make a list of what you want to accomplish.
Get the whole family involved by assigning a few age-appropriate responsibilities to the kids and letting them play family favorite music to keep you energized throughout the day. Make mealtime easy on yourself by planning for a simple lunch and take-out for dinner. Here are 10 suggestions of what to set your sights on in your own home:
- Wash windows (inside and out)
- Take down drapery, curtains, and blinds to clean
- Clean out and wipe down drawers, cupboards, and bookshelves
- Dust and clean couches and chairs
- Dust and clean inside lamps and home decor
- Set oven to cleaning mode and clear out refrigerator
- Clean walls and ceilings, including ceiling fans
- Clean artwork and framed photographs on walls
- Clean out fireplace if has been in use throughout the winter
- Sweep and wash all floors, clean rugs and carpets
It may be an intimidating list, but starting spring with a clean house will give you a fresh start for the warm months ahead, and allow you to remain organized in your everyday tasks. Good luck!
