Having trouble maintaining focus at your desk? Driving yourself crazy looking for a certain file? One of the easiest ways to increase your productivity is to maintain a clear and focused workspace and organize your home office.

Think about it, what is on your desk right now? We tend to clutter our desk with everything we accomplish throughout the day – not to mention days past. Post-it notes, water bottles, papers, coffee mugs, knick knacks and desk accessories are just a few of the culprits.

Remove everything and clean
Although overhauling your workspace can seem daunting, the best way to begin is to remove everything from the surface and clean. If you’re a Post-it note fanatic, chances are passwords and reminders are lining your computer monitor and/or desk. Rather than replacing this information after cleaning, enter your passwords into your Orggit account, put tasks and reminders in a notebook and throw Post-its away. When deciding what knick knacks to put back on your desk, be very discerning. Choose only one or two picture frames or decorations to avoid overcrowding the area.

Keep frequently used items accessible
What items are you constantly reaching for throughout the day? These should be neatly arranged within arm’s reach. Everything else should be organized into extra space such as drawers and cabinets surrounding the area.

Drawers are just as important
Just because it is out of sight, doesn’t mean that a messy drawer won’t hinder your productivity. Begin by removing everything from each drawer and cleaning. When storing items such as pens, paper clips and other desk accessories, drawer dividers and organizers do wonders for keeping a drawer neat. If you’re storing documents in your work area, be sure to use labeled folders or dividers for each project or subject. To free up drawer space, scan as many of these documents as possible and upload them to your Orggit account, the perfect online document manager. This way, the information will be safely stored, but out of your way.
